We all have
our own theory on sleep - what helps us to sleep, how much sleep we need
and what keeps us awake at night. The quality of sleep is determined by
a number of factors - level of exhaustion, emotional stress and sleeping
surface, to name a few. Evaluations rate the waterbed far superior to
the innerspring mattress in the areas of comfort, relaxation, lack of
pressure points, ease of getting to sleep and overall performance.
It's
a fact
Medical
studies have shown that the even distribution of body weight, as on a
waterbed, benefits everybody, young and old alike.
Superior Sleep
- The most
significant factor contributing to this improved quality of sleep is
the extremely low awareness of pressure points.
- On a
standard bed people change position about 60 times a night to relieve
uncomfortable pressure points and restore blood circulation. The gentle
overall
support of a waterbed relieves this pressure and as a result, movements
were
reduced by 25 per cent.
- There's
nothing new about the concept of flotation sleep. History tells us that
Cleopatra slept on large goatskins filled with water. Last century British
physicians recognized the therapeutic benefits of flotation sleep, and
nursed their bedridden patients on a primitive form of waterbed.
Today many doctors prescribe flotation sleep for the relief of arthritis,
backache,
burns, asthma and the nursing of premature babies.
- Flotation
sleep gently cushions your body in relaxing warmth from head to toe.
This means that no part of your body is under pressure to support another
part the water does all the supporting. Blood can flow freely throughout
your body, dispersing any buildup of toxins and other byproducts.

Body
support
A conventional
mattress creates pressure points in areas of concentrated weight, whereas
a waterbed contours to your exact body shape giving total and even support.
The result is, you enjoy improved blood circulation and you will rarely
toss and turn. You will awake after the perfect night's sleep feeling
refreshed and well rested.

Floatation
support
Will allow
your vertebrae to lay in as natural position as possible. Because your
legs are slightly elevated in a waterbed, your vertebrae are straighter
and subject to less stress, plus a waterbed mattress will give you better
support in the small of your back with relief from pressure and lower
back tension.

Benefits
to your health
Although
we spend one third of our lives asleep, and the subject has been widely
investigated, many questions remain unanswered.
There are a number of ways to control or enforce sleep - after all 30
per cent of all people suffer some form of sleep disturbance.
These include chemical sleep inducers such as sedatives, tranquilizers
and antihistamines. However, a more satisfactory result is to stabilize
sleeping habits on a long-term basis.
Medical studies have shown that heated waterbeds have been successful
in both accelerating and facilitating better sleep patterns. Many patients
showed improvement in ease of falling asleep, stabilizing the onset of
sleep, and reducing night awakenings so increasing total sleep time.
